Boost Confidence and Scores: Top NJSLA Prep Strategies
It’s normal for your child to feel nervous as the New
Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) gets closer. And as a parent, you
might feel the pressure for your child to do well, too. Why not turn that
stress into something productive? Enroll your child in NJSLA test prep courses
here at PALS Learning Center, Piscataway, to prepare them. Our
courses review key concepts and help students build stronger test-taking habits
through realistic practice and clear pacing guidance.
Alongside NJSLA test prep and tutoring, there are
also things you can do at home to support your child:
Help your child create a study plan
Sit down together and list what needs to be reviewed for
each subject. Break that list into smaller tasks and spread them out over
several days, so your child isn’t trying to cram everything at once. Block off
25–30 minute study sessions with 5-minute breaks in between, and include a
longer break after every two or three sessions.
Skip the all-nighters
In the days leading up to the NJSLA, encourage your child
to avoid late-night studying and aim for 7 to 9 hours of sleep. When they’re
well-rested, they can think more clearly and manage stress better on exam day.
Familiarize your child with the NJSLA
Your child may feel more confident on test day when they
know what to expect. With NJSLA test prep, they can take practice tests and
sample questions that can familiarize them with the format and question styles,
as well as the timing for each exam.
Use official NJSLA-released items
Use the actual practice materials from the NJSLA. These
resources show the exact types of questions, how they’re scored, and what the
test looks like, so nothing feels unfamiliar on exam day. Practicing with real
questions helps your child spot where they tend to make mistakes and where
they’re doing well.
